New MC55 Series EDA (Enterprise Digital Assistant)

PSC/Percon PT200 Top Gun has been discontinued. In its place Motorol/Symbol is selling the MC55 series of digital assistants. These pocket-sized mobile computers are flexible, functional and rugged. Configurations include barcode scanning, imaging, camera, walkie-talkie, CoIP phone and mobile computer with a variety of applications like scheduling and word processing.

Princeton Cybernetics offers its own program for these devices, to permit you to use them to scan barcodes for a variety of different functions (check-in, check-out, inventory reconciliation, inventory tagging, etc.) and synchronize the collected data with RentControl.

New Credit Card Processing Rules

For those of you using our integrated X-Charge credit card processing, Visa now requires that any application (which includes RentControl and RentControl Plus) that includes an integrated facility to process credit cards must comply with Visa's Payment Applications Best Practices (PABP). The other credit card processors (MasterCard, Discover and American Express) have followed suit.

The latest versions of RentControl and RentControl Plus meet the PABP requirements and are available to our X-Charge customers. This change will require that you install the lastest X-Charge software (which the techs at X-Charge will help you do). Also, the way you charge a card has changed slightly: credit card data is now typed into a screen separate from RentControl. The big change is that we are no longer permitted to save the full credit card number, only the last four digits.
